  • “Our TEACH tutor has been with us for over 2 years, and she has been amazing with my sons. She has helped them build confidence in their writing abilities, believe in themselves, and trust their own instincts for creativity and imagination. I can't thank TEACH enough for providing a beautiful writing angel for my boys. We love TEACH and all their teachers.”

    - Maria Y., Masterman Parent, Academic Tutoring
  • “Excellent experience bringing my son’s scores up. Individualized assessment, knowledgeable tutors in every discipline, small class size for group sessions. A great overall experience for tutoring and enhancement.”

    - Dell M., Science Leadership Academy Parent, Class of 2016
  • “TEACH helped me raise my ACT score to a 30!”

    - Jonas B., Science Leadership Academy Student, Class of 2016
  • “We wanted to let you know how happy we were with the ACT tutors we used from TEACH. We contacted them fairly late in the cycle but they were very good about making a workable schedule. As a former Princeton Review tutor, getting high scoring kids (95th percentile on the practice test) higher (99th percentile) is not easy. If folks ask, and I know they do, you should recommend this group without hesitation.”

    – Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Parent, ACT Tutoring, Class of 2019
  • “Thank you and your team for the SAT tutoring. He [started with an 1150 (540 math, 610 verbal) and] scored a 1310 (680 math, 630 verbal) and we are thrilled!”

    – Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Parent, Class of 2019
  • "I really appreciated how helpful the instructors were and the engaging strategies that they used. I expected this ACT course to be intimidating but the environment is really supportive and my scores went up."

    – Zoe, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Student, Class of 2020
  • “My experience with teach was amazing. I was able to learn from teachers who planned the best classes. They took time to make sure every student made progress after every class.”

    - Jennifer L., Keystone National High School Student, Class of 2019
  • “I would highly recommend TEACH for ACT test prep. Maria treated my son with respect, including him in the process of assessing his skills and goals. Megan came up with a clear plan keeping in mind the amount of time my son had to study and being efficient with what we could pay. The tutors were fabulous, personable with good energy making their sessions super productive. They built an easy relationship with my son and cheered him on to ultimately attain his goal score (seven points higher than his starting score)!”

    - Devorah L., Central High School Parent, Class of 2017

How Do I Interpret My ACT or SAT Score?

The ACT

The ACT composite score is an average of four separate tests in English, Math, Reading, and Science. The highest possible composite score is a 36.

The SAT

The SAT total score is comprised of four tests in two “sections”: Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and Math. The highest possible score for each section is 800 for a total highest possible score of 1600.

In order to gauge your baseline score on the ACT or SAT, take into account:

  • Your national percentile average. This shows how your score ranks among all other students who took the exam.
  • Colleges and scholarships. Many colleges and scholarships will include average test scores for their freshman class. Use these averages to help set goals for yourself.
  • Practice takes time. Practicing test prep strategies and reviewing content can help maximize your score. Keep in mind that it takes hours of work to move scores significantly (20+ hours in a small group class, 10+ hours in a 1-on-1 setting).
  • Scaled scores. The ACT and SAT tests are each on a curve. The distribution of scores for each test date will differ slightly, so the curve for each test will change slightly, too. For example, even though the ACT is out of 36 total points, a composite score of 29 is typically within the 90th percentile nationally. For the SAT, a total score of 1340 is typically within the 90th percentile nationally.

We’re here to open doors through exceptional test prep.

Increasing test scores can radically change students’ college acceptances, financial aid and scholarship packages, and open up other post-secondary opportunities to help students achieve their personal and professional dreams.
